My JOURNEY
How It All Began
But things started quite differently…
I grew up in a medical clinic with two doctors. At the age of 1.5, my mother’s acupuncture patients watched with pure horror as a toddler approached them during treatments. To their surprise, I gently stroked their hands between the needles and reassured them with a simple, “Doesn’t hurt.”
My childhood was chaotic. As a parentified daughter, I grew up as an absolute empath—often to my own detriment. I suffered from relational PTSD but found a sense of grounding through movement and music. Sports like gymnastics, ballet, tennis, fencing, and ballroom dance became my outlets, helping me preserve my mental health.
At 17, I lived in Sudan, staying with a single mom of four who worked as a housekeeper in her traditional generational family home. Unwilling to accept rent, I instead paid for a daily cleaner and helped her buying kitchen utensils from a far away market that she began to resell. Two years later, I returned to find that she had started a successful large kitchen utensil shop, earning a great living.
That experience taught me a life-changing lesson: there is no limit to human potential—especially for moms—when the right support is given. Fueled by this realization, I pursued a degree in development economics, seeing the world through the lens of efficiency and empowerment.
A Pivotal Shift
After a Bachelor and two Masters degree in Economics, working for the United Nations and a major corporation, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was lost, my body was in chronic pain. University and career demands had taken me away from movement, and as a result, my mental and physical health quickly deteriorated.
Not knowing yet that I was leaving that life behind, I decided to study yoga therapy—a move that both humbled and liberated me. Transitioning from a high-achieving development economist to a health-focused coach was a leap of faith, I’d be lying if I didn’t say my ego took a major hit. But at that point I had to choose: my career or my health.
The road has been anything but easy. It’s taken grind, perseverance, and countless lessons, but every twist and turn has shaped who I am today. I’ve learned to carve out my own path, no matter how unconventional, even when it came with extra challenges for my already sensitive body.
